No news

We're nearing the end of August and we still have no news to report. We knew there would be a lot of waiting involved in adoption and we were quite prepared for that, what has been difficult is the waiting without any idea of a due date. We have been trying to make ourselves ready for a call from the social worker any day, to be ready for a new baby within a few days or weeks. After over a month of being ready we're beginning to wonder how to keep living life as normal with the possibility of a baby arriving any day, but also the chance it could be another month or two. Last month we were wondering whether it was ok to go over to Dumaguete for a few days to meet with a friend from Bacolod. With Nya's sleep still not back to normal we were worried we'd get a call and have to go back home quick to prepare for a baby. Now, several weeks later it seems silly that we were worried. But again this week we're thinking the same thing, we have the option of going up to see my brother and his 4 new foster kids. It means disrupting Nya's sleep again (she finally slept through the night last night for the first time in over a month) but it's a trip we really want to make. It's very difficult to plan anything when there's a possibility we could suddenly get a call and have a baby within a few days.

What we both recognise however is that these last 2 months have been good. It would have been difficult to have a baby with Nya being sick and not sleeping well (getting up 10 times a night some nights). Nya has also matured incredibly over the last 2 months, it seems like she is understanding more every day. I know that she is more prepared now for a new sibling(s) than she was 2 months ago. The only downside is that in July we came back so excited and prepared, but it's been difficult to keep that excitement going and also try to wait patiently and let things unfold in due time. With no actual date to prepare for (we were told possibly July, definitely August... but it's not looking likely) it's easier to focus on day to day life and not get our hopes up that we will have a new baby soon. We've been trying our best not to bug our social worker too much, however it does worry me that she isn't replying to our texts (this is the Philippines, people text rather than call). We will try and stop by her office this week to see if we can have a quick chat, even if she will just tell us the same thing, there's no matching planned for our area yet.
