Back to HK
Well a lot has changed since November and my last post. It was around that time that Daniel and I sat down and talked and decided to make the difficult decision to come back to Hong Kong for a period of time. That is where we are now. The reasons are many. I was in particular feeling very isolated, being home alone with Nya everyday and having very little social contact. Daniel was so fully consumed by ICM and all the changes that were going on that we ended up with little valuable family time. We felt keenly the lack of a supportive church environment where we were able to receive as well as give. We had been putting real life on hold while waiting for the next matching, but real life can not go on being on hold for 6 months plus. We realised that even if a matching did happen neither of us were in great emotional health to add a new baby (or two) to the mix. So the decision was to go home to Hong Kong for 2-3 months, to reconnect with our home church, to just take a break from living in a foreign culture (it's been 4 and half years), and meet up with the counselor who prepared us before we left HK to get some debriefing. The most difficult part? Leaving the Philippines not knowing if a matching would happen while we were gone. In the end we decided it was important for us to go but we have kept Daniel's Philippines cell phone on roaming so the social worker can still contact us. If that does happen we can then make the decision to go back.
